I can’t decide which is more awesome, that Peter Pan is taunting Darth Vader, or that the stormtroopers are wearing Mickey Mouse hats.
I think we’re forgetting that Darth Vader has a balloon.
DISNEYLAND.
I’m not sure what’s funnier. Darth Vader with a balloon. Or the storm troopers with the Mickey Mouse hats.

Is the word I would use to describe the reveal of the Xbox One. Which is a dumb name in general but also a really dumb name for a 3rd console of their Xbox series. But really, the reveal had little showcasing the system and games. First, the kinect. It a peripheral kinda like the wii with motion sensors but without controllers. Well the about at least $100 peripheral comes included with the system, probably making it a little more expensive to buy the system at launch. But they started off with their new version of it annnnd..that was honestly the most interesting part of the entire show. Thats…not a good thing. It’s impressive, sharper and such. Almost immediate with its response to your commands. It’s not too bad a peripheral but its just that, a peripheral. I have no desire to use it to look through the menu and play “kinect’ games. Though they didnt show any games with the kinect. They showed…tv and um…movie trailers. Well, the Kinect works I guess. But yeah, a lot of tv and such were shown. Basically making the “game” system seem more like a cable box of sorts.
2nd part was to show off….sports and sports games. Every console has them and most gamers apart from the “bros” don’t want to actually play sports games. It’s not really exciting either to see what you can watch and play in real life and on other consoles being a main showcase for your brand new console.
3rd part? More sports…well racing at least. Again, the same issue. Though it looked pretty, even though it wasn’t actual gameplay footage. But again, sports games aren’t really all that interesting.
Finally we get to an actual game. It’s from Remedy! Thank God! And then they start to show a teaser. Annnnnd….its a teaser of live actors mostly and a boat going through a bridge. Interesting teaser, but it didn’t really show much of anything. Not a good video to try and show off your system. Hmm..
Then they get to their next game. A franchise! Probably one of their biggest franchises. Halo! What do they have in store then? New game? Spin off game? Nope, not a game from one of their biggest franchises but….a t.v. show…What does that have to do with the gaming console? Is there some sort of exclusive look with the system? No? Not even footage? We’re moving on to the next segment already? OOoohhhhh…..
Well okay then, let’s get to the next..actual..game..part. Call of Duty. Well crap, another Call of Duty game. Well..fine whatever, people like the game and finally we get more kinda gameplay footage. Kinda…nothing actually being played live but it’s something. The thing is though, one, it’s another COD game and it’s been done to death. two, it’s going to be on every other console out there, it’s not exclusive to the xbox one so why show it off here? Show off an exclusive IP for you brand new product, hell a halo game wouldve worked. Or Gears of War..or how about some more footage from that Remedy game and not just a teaser that probably wasn’t even meant for the show in the first place. I’m sure that was exclusive like Alan Wake was and that game was awesome.
And then it ended…so from what I got..expensive kinda ugly looking system with a peripheral making it cost more since its bundled and can play tv even though I don’t watch tv apart from Netflix and Hulu. That and it has generic games and games that you will see on other consoles as well. Apart from that one game we barely showed anything about because we had to show off the next COD game because…..its COD I guess. So the focus on this presentation was completely off, not actually catering to the gamer. It’s focus was barely on games and was for people to buy their system who like watching tv and sports. Oh, and it can play games too.
It’s kinda like as if instead of focusing their competition on other game developers like Nintendo and Sony, they shifted it towards like Apple and Amazon. Making not a game console, but an overall entertainment center. Which is fine..if done right. Here it was sloppily done and alienated a lot of people not just gamers. What sports jock is really going to go out of their way to watch a gaming presentation? What tv lover is going to turn off their cable box and look on their xbox or online for a new gaming console that apparently caters more to them? They wouldnt know, they’d just think its a game console. It’s not catering to kids really either, seeming more to adults. So like are kids really excited at all for the new xbox if they see this? Cause they’re part of the gamer crowd probably and this didnt cater to the gaming crowd old and young. So again, the lack of proper focus or them trying to show that their system is inclusive to people of different tastes and lifestyles (everyone) they actually done the opposite and alienated a lot of people.
Maybe they will show something more substantial at E3. But then again, first impressions are always important, and this one utterly failed to impress and make gamers excited for the next generation of gaming. So good luck to Microsoft, they’re really going to need it and work really hard to win back their original customers.
I like the belief that people say God doesn’t live in time and that every 1000 years is like a day to God…but then that’s putting him in a frame of time.
